After cruising thru the NBA betting Conference Finals so far, things were destined to get difficult at some point. Well that time is now. The Spurs have been on such a run, that there is no way I can bet against them until they give me a very good reason. Still, it’s hard to overlook such a glaring statistic as this, Utah is 6-0 at home in the NBA playoffs. That is almost enough for me to lay off this game but the Spurs have been good to me thus far and are getting 2 points.
So the pick was:
Spurs +2 over Jazz
For a while there, I was wondering what I had been so worried about. Although Deron Williams (31 points and eight assists) and Carlos Boozer (27 points and 12 rebounds) were tenacious from the start, the Spurs were able to carry a 4 point lead into halftime. As they had done all series, the Spurs were able hold down the rest of the Jazz while letting Williams and Boozer get theirs. At least for the first half they were able to.
The emergence of their supporting cast in the second half, helped the Jazz enjoy the kind of route the Spurs had the first two NBA betting games -- and then some. The 26-point margin of defeat was San Antonio's worst of the basketball betting season. Derek Fisher, Andrei Kirilenko, Jarron Collins and Gordan Giricek all made significant contributions during a 12-3 run in the third quarter that put Utah ahead for good. Paul Millsap added some key baskets in the fourth quarter, and the Jazz improved to 7-0 at home this postseason and 3-0 against the Spurs in Salt Lake City this season
Lesson learned. Don’t go with a pick simply because a team has been treating you so good recently. If the NBA betting odds and NBA statistics are against them it’s probably a good time to take the night off.
Till next time, may all your bets be winners.
